DEPARTURE TO BENTO GONÇALVES–The colonization of this region began in 1875 with the settlement of the upper northeastern slope by Italian immigrants. Known as the Região da Cruzinha, an area for bartering goods and a resting place for drovers, it was named Colônia Dona Isabel. On average, 790 people arrived from the AUSTRIAN TIROL AND VÊNETO. They lived under a system of barter, buying and selling goods and the services of blacksmiths, shoemakers, joiners, tailors and carpenters. Over time, and with the opening of roads, the population grew significantly. Despite the difficulties, in 1877 Colônia Dona Isabel was home to three commercial houses, two bakeries, a hat factory and a total of 40 commercial houses offering various services and products throughout the colony’s territory. It separated from Montenegro in 1890 and was named in honor of general Bento Gonçalves da Silva, leader of the Revolução Farroupilha, which took place in Rio Grande do Sul from 1835 to 1845. Its National prominence came in 1967 with the Creation of Fenavinho and the implementation of the Tourism and Events Sector for the Region.

ABOUT THE SALTON FAMILY: 

The history of the Salton family in Brazil began in 1878 with the arrival of Antonio Domenico Salton, who came from Italy (Vêneto) to the colony of Vila Isabel, today’s Bento Gonçalves (RS). In 1910, his sons formalized the business, founding the winery “Paulo Salton e Irmãos”, which became the leader in the sparkling wine market. 

TIMELINE AND HISTORICAL MILESTONES

• 1878:Antonio Domenico Salton, originally from Cison di Valmarino, arrives in Brazil.
• 1884:Founding of the “casa di pasto” in front of the Igreja Matriz of Bento Gonçalves, which lodged travelers and sold the family’s products.
• 1910:The company is made official by Paulo Salton and his brothers: Angelo, João, José, Cesar, Luis and Antonio.
• The 30s-40s:Start of sparkling wine production (1933) and launch of “Vinho Canônico” (1940).
• The 60s:The winery becomes the official supplier to the Presidency of the Republic with the “Presidente” wine.
• Today:The winery, located in Bento Gonçalves and with a unit in São Paulo, is managed by the fourth generation of the family and is the leader in sales of domestic sparkling wines.

Founded in 1974, it is located in a remarkable historic building. When visiting the Museu do Imigrante, you will be able to recognize practices and creations from the late nineteenth century to the second half of the twentieth century. –ACCESS INCLUDED, FREE OF CHARGE

WINE-COLORED WATER FOUNTAIN-PHOTO STOP –

MONUMENTO AO IMIGRANTE ITALIANO- Italian immigrants colonized the municipality of Bento Gonçalves, and the monument in their honor is located in Praça Achyles Mincarone, near the ” Pipa” church. The bronze sculpture is life-size and portrays the effort of the settlers who built the municipality.

VISIT TO THE BARREL-SHAPED CHURCH-A tribute to the Immigrants, the Church has the shape of a Barrel. The pews have engravings with grape symbolism, as well as beautiful colored stained-glass windows. It holds up to 1000 people

Upon confirmation, we need, up to 03 days before the chosen date, the full names and RG numbers with the issuing agency of the pax for the Travel List; for children without an RG, a copy of the birth certificate must be sent. Passengers must carry the documents sent on the date of the trip.    

It is the pax’s responsibility to present a document at boarding; if they do not carry it, they will not be able to board and there will be no refund by the Contractor

Minors under 16 unaccompanied by their legal guardians may only board and participate with authorization in accordance with Resolution No. 295/2019-CNJ –Registered at a Notary Office (the company is not responsible for minors)     

Children in the vehicle count as one passenger regardless of age

To guarantee the discounts for MINORS, it is necessary to carry the documents on the day of the trip; if the pax do not carry the proper documents, they are responsible for the price difference to be charged at the entrance to the fair
